Treating PTSD with hypnotherapy can change your life

Find out how you can deal with past trauma by treating PTSD with hypnotherapy.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that causes people to experience intense and even disturbing feelings towards a particular experience in their lives.

PTSD is brought about when a person experiences something very traumatic, making them fearful, even after the event has ended. PTSD patients often have flashbacks of the event and may feel sadness, guilt or rage when reminded of it.

This is a common condition seen in military veterans and car accident survivors. The severity of the condition varies based on how traumatic the event was and how much it affected the patient’s psyche.

While there is no definite cure for it, there are techniques for treating PTSD. Hypnotherapy is one such technique that has proven to be effective in treating the common symptoms of this condition.

Common symptoms of PTSD

The symptoms of PTSD differ depending on the patient. However, there are a few general symptoms observed in most patients:

Feeling tense all the time
Having trouble sleeping
Having night terrors
Having sudden emotional outbursts
Being self-destructive and resorting to unhealthy habits like drug abuse

Oftentimes, PTSD patients have trouble recalling certain parts of the event that triggered their condition; this happens because the brain tends to block out traumatic events from our memories; this is called dissociation.

Dissociation can make it difficult to figure out the root cause of a person’s PTSD but with techniques like hypnotherapy, important parts of these events can be brought to light and we can figure out a way to help PTSD patients.

Treating PTSD with hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy has been compared to other treatments like psychodynamic therapy when it comes to treating Post-traumatic stress.
Hypnotherapy works by reducing the patient’s dissociation with the traumatic event they experienced and helping them come to terms with the event.
Being a clinical hypnotherapist, strategic psychotherapist, qualified counsellor and a master practitioner of NLP, I use various techniques and treatments, including hypnotherapy, to help you deal with PTSD in just six sessions.

I experienced my first ever hypnotherapy session with Lisa @ Eastern Suburbs Hypnotherapy via Zoom. At the time I was isolated and in the middle of the Melbourne lockdown, struggling with motivation and a fair amount of anxiety. At the end I not only felt an amazing calmness but invigorated at the same time. Looking forward to an in-person session.

Lisa helped a patient of mine undo some of the patterns he had regarding repetitive actions, which were related to was fast and very effective. She has a beautiful calming way about her and he responded to her nurturing mannerism with ease. I would definitely recommend giving Lisa’s way of hypnosis a go especially for stubborn behaviours.

- Elizabeth -

Lisa is authentically committed to her practice and that becomes clear the moment you sit down to discuss your situation. We all process stress in different ways, with a dysregulated nervous system in flight mode (not uncommon as we emerge from two years of restrictions to establish a new normal) I was keen to work with Lisa to create some equilibrium - I'm glad I did. As an Executive Coach I'm always looking to build a strong network of integrated practitioners to help my clients perform and live 'well', I wouldn't hesitate to refer clients to Lisa.
