Frequently asked questions
Find answers to common questions about my work and the support I offer.
While a mainstream therapeutic tool, hypnotherapy is still shrouded in plenty of misconceptions and misunderstandings.
Today, it is a form of treatment I use and is one that has proven highly effective in supporting people experiencing anxiety, addiction and other mental health difficulties.
Take a look at the FAQs below for answers to questions you may be having. If you have any additional questions, please get in touch with me.
Hypnosis is the induction of a state of focus that often results in a very relaxed disposition, similar to that of a meditative state.
Here, your mind is able to dissociate from its conscious state into its unconscious state and access your full potential without the limitations of learned conscious behaviour.
This opens up a world of possibilities to create new, positive pathways and patterns to operate from.

Using strategic psychotherapy and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), this form of therapy targets the unconscious mind to amplify an individual’s strengths, and where necessary, inculcate new qualities and traits.
Looking at individual patterns, it allows us to interrupt what isn’t working and load up on what does.
We all operate through codes and patterns that go back to our childhood. Recognising these patterns is the first step to changing them, and hypnotherapy is an extremely, powerful tool to create positive change.
Hypnosis is different for everybody. Some people tend to go deeper than others but you do
not need to be in a deep, trance-like state for the hypnosis to work, contrary to popular belief.
You are also always in control; it is a similar state to that of a meditative state.
Hypnotherapy is a brief and direct intervention. Depending on what you want to heal, the exact number may change, but generally, just six sessions can make a difference.
Almost anyone can be hypnotised as long as they are invested in the experience and believe in its usefulness.
Everyone has their own unique approach to hypnosis, so there is no right or wrong way to do this.
Today, this form of therapy can be used to treat any number of physical or mental health conditions. These include (but may not be limited to):

To be safe and effective and to transform your thinking and create positive change, hypnosis needs to be conducted by a trained and qualified therapist.
That said, it’s important to note that there are certain people for whom this would not be
suitable, such as those with severe mental illnesses.
This will depend on your plan and the coverage provided by your service provider. Before scheduling an appointment, please contact your insurance agency and find out whether this form of therapy is claimable.
As a clinical hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner, I help people experiencing (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, addictions, low self-esteem, phobias, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
NLP provides you with the tools you need to choose your perceptions and instill cognitive frameworks to create new pathways to achieve your ultimate goals.
Practitioners, like myself, believe there is a connection between certain neurological processes, our language, and behaviours that we learn through experience. We also believe that these can be changed to achieve certain goals.
In this process, it is common to analyse the traits, attitudes and behaviours of successful people and apply them in our daily lives.
SP is a short term, direct, goal oriented approach focussing on process and behaviours with a unique approach to each individual problem and maintains the belief that everyone has the ability to heal themselves.
